Here is the scoop of scoops. The celestial Waheeda Rehman has been offered a role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series Heeramandi for Netflix. This is for season 2 of the show, which is expected to go on floors once the opening season is released and concluded later in the year.
A source close to the project reveals, “It is a role written especially for her. SLB is a full-on fanboy. He absolutely hero-worships Waheedaji. He has seen Waheedaji’s Guide, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Pyaasa and Reshma Aur Shera umpteen number of times. He had offered her the role when shooting for Heeramandi had just started in April 2022. But at that time the iconic actress was in two minds because of the Covid pandemic.”
Bhansali is hopeful she will finally accept the part. “Waheedaji’s role is open only to her. SLB is hopeful she will eventually say yes. But if she refuses, he will scrap the role,” says the source.
