Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan played siblings in ‘Josh‘ and got a lot of appreciation for the film, despite the fact that they were loved as the lead pair in ‘Mohabbatein’ and ‘Devdas’. Their chemistry especially, in ‘Devdas’ was loved immensely and Aishwarya was once asked in an interview if she had any apprehensions about playing SRK’s sister.
An old interview clip of Aishwarya from her chat with Bollywood Hungama has now gone viral.The actress had said, that she didn’t have any apprehensions. She added that she had said yes to working with Mansoor and when they first started, the cast was meant to beAamir Khan and Salman Khan. ‘Then I don’t know at some point, it was meant to be Shah Rukh and Aamir, and then it became Chandrachur. So, the cast kept changing. But Shirley was Shirley.’
Aishwarya had revealed further that even when the cast kept changing, producer Ratan Jain and Mansoor asked Aishwarya but at no point in time she had any doubts about doing the film. She added that she was committed to doing this film and this role because it was new and would be something different.
‘Josh’ had got a good reception at the box office as well as critical acclaim when it released in 2000. The songs of the movie continue to remain iconic till date, especially, ‘Apun Bola’ and ‘Haaye Mera Dil’. Reports suggest that earlier, Kajol was offered to play Shirley, but she rejected and Aishwarya came on board.
