Shahid Kapoor opens on playing a drug addict in Udta Punjab, reveals WHY he initially thought he will not be able to pull it off | Hindi Movie News

Shahid Kapoor is one of the most formidable actors of this generation who has acted through a variety of genres. However, one role that the actor grabbed the maximum eyeballs for, was Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab, in which he played the drug addict rock star ‘Tommy‘. Recently, the actor recalled that he himself was perplexed when he was offered that role since he has never touched drugs and is a teetotaler in real-life.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, the actor recounts asking Abhishek why did he offer him this role and told him, ‘Bro, maine life mein kabhi sharab nahi pi hain.

Aaj tak nahi pi hain. Maine life kabhi koi substance nahi ki hain. I don’t know what it is to be high.’
However, Abhishek was convinced that only Shahid could pull off this role. He added that he actually went through a lot of doubt because he knew his friends who drink will ask, ‘Why did you do it when you don’t know things?’ He said that he thought he would be embarrassed, and it would be bad for him. However, he loved the script and the character and eventually told himself, ‘If I can do this, which I cannot relate to at all, If I can pull this off, then I think I will be fearless for the rest of my life as an actor because this is as far away from my reality as it possibly can be.’

While Shahid has always been creating ripples in his professional life, his personal too is picture perfect, with wife Mira and two adorable kids in tow. Shahid recently shared a series of sizzling pictures in which he exuded charisma in an all-black ensemble. Donning a sleek black vest coat and matching pants and sporting a chic new hairstyle, Shahid’s photos immediately garnered attention and admiration from fans. However, it was his wife, Mira Rajput, who truly stole the show with her endearing comment on the post. Unable to contain her appreciation for her husband’s irresistible looks, she playfully exclaimed, “Can you not look this hot…”
