Ira Khan, the daughter of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and his first wife Reena Dutta, has been open and candid about her battle with depression. In a new interview, Ira revealed that she used to judge and hated herself and felt she had no right to be depressed because of her privilege.
Talking about the mixed reactions she received after sharing her experiences with depression through social media, interviews, and other platforms, Ira told India Today she used to think like, ‘What are you useless human being? You don’t have the right to be depressed, you have so much privilege.’
She revealed that she spent 3 years hating herself for it.And now it doesn’t matter if other people hate her because she is done hating herself for her condition and going through the process of self-acceptance.
Ira mentioned that she is aware of her privilege and she fully understands why people get irritated with her and put angry comments on her Instagram. Although she doesn’t read those comments, she has been told told there are lots of mean things in her Instagram comments.

She further added that these feelings are subjective and they don’t really care whether you have money or not. People often look at her and say she doesn’t have financial problems and other struggles and ask her, ‘What are you complaining about?’ So, Ira understands where people’s frustration is coming from.
