Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to make her OTT debut with ‘Jaane Jaan‘. She will be seen in an all-new avatar for the film which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. It stars Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat. The trailer of the film was launched today and Kareena was asked her thought process behind re-inventing herself. Reacting to that, Kareena says it’s a little upsetting for her that people only remember her for roles like Geet and Poo from her movies ‘Jab We Met‘ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ respectively.
Kareena said, “As an actor, you want to try and do something different every time. For me, it is difficult because I’ve been known for playing Poo and Geet. Logon ke dimaag mein wahi baith gaya hai (This thing has been fixed in people’s minds). So, that has been a conscious effort that now I want to do different things. I’ve done many more films like, ‘Dev’ ‘Omkara’, ‘Chameli’ and many more, but somehow, people just keep going back to Geet and Poo and will get offered only such roles. But what can one do about it?”
However, Kareena said, she will give in her best and keep trying to reinvent herself. This time around, she’s more nervous than she’s ever been in her 23-year old career. “I am more nervous than I was when I made my debut. Because people are going to watch this so close on television. We have all worked very hard. Every actor says that but Sujoy has made a fantastic film. We have been trying to work together for over a decade.”
Interestingly, Kareena was offered this film when she was pregnant with Jeh. The actress was on the sets of ‘Bhool Police’ with Saif Ali Khan and that’s when producer Jai Shewakramani told her about this idea.
‘Jaane Jaan’ is set to release on Kareena’s birthday, September 21.
