‘Adipurush‘, a retelling of the epic Ramayana, witnessed a major drop in its box office collection as it ended its first week. The film starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, witnessed a drop in numbers on Thursday.
According to boxofficeindia.com, the film earned an estimated Rs 2.50 crore on its seventh day at the ticket windows. This took the overall collections to an estimated Rs 123 crore nett.Interestingly, this drop in numbers comes shortly after the makers announced that they have lowered ticket prices for the film. The makers reduced the ticket fee to Rs 150 to encourage the audience to watch the film.

The movie recorded a good start to its box office run, earning an estimated Rs 35 crore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The film saw its first drop in collections on Monday, earning an estimated Rs 7.75 crore. It went on to earn an estimated Rs 4.75 and Rs 3.25 crore on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday’s collections rounded off the week with a total of Rs 123.25 crore.

A look at last weekend’s box office numbers had trade experts predicting a 200 crore collection for the Hindi version of the film by the end of its first week. However, going by the current trend, the film is now heading towards the 150 crore nett mark by its second weekend.

Despite the odds, the film still managed to record the second-highest first-week collection for a Hindi release in 2023.
Adipurush was made on a huge budget of Rs 400 crore. It remains to be seen how much it will earn in the weeks ahead, with newer films lining up for their releases.
