‘Zanjeer’ director Apoorva Lakhia recently opened up about his relationship with actor Ram Charan, who made his Bollywood debut in the 2013 film. In a recent interview, Lakhia revealed that despite the film’s box office failure, he and Ram Charan have remained good friends. However, he humorously mentioned that the actor has a habit of not answering his phone calls promptly.
Apoorva Lakhia shared his friendship with Ram Charan, stating, “Ram Charan is a really good friend of mine. In fact, even though Zanjeer did not perform well at the box office, I have visited him at his house in Hyderabad and stayed with him many times. But now, he doesn’t pick up my phone calls. I don’t know, maybe he has changed his phone or something. His wife, Upasana, replies, but not him.”
The director also revealed an interesting incident when Ram Charan called him from Ukraine while shooting for the highly anticipated film ‘RRR.’ Lakhia said, “He called me from Ukraine and asked me what I was up to. I told him that I was not doing anything major. He said, ‘I need to shoot two to three action sequences of the second unit, can you come and do it?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll get back to you.’ Then he called again and asked, ‘Can you?’ I was shooting something or working on something, so I couldn’t go. That was the last time I think I spoke to him, and he calls me randomly, but he doesn’t answer my calls.”
Despite their playful phone call interactions, Ram Charan has been making waves with his performances. His recent film, ‘RRR,’ directed by SS Rajamouli, garnered immense attention and praise from audiences worldwide. The actor is also set to star in the upcoming film Game Changer, directed by Shankar.
Ram Charan’s new production banner has already unveiled the promo for their first project, titled ‘The India House.’ The film will feature Nikhil Siddhartha and Anupam Kher in leading roles.
