Kangana Ranaut reacts to Priyanka Chopra’s statement on pay parity in Bollywood: Most female A-listers work for free and offer other favours | Hindi Movie News

Priyanka Chopra had recently spoken about giving up on pay parity in Bollywood. She had said that she Citadel was the first project in her 22 years of acting journey in which she received the same paycheque as her male co-star. Her statement has now caught the attention of her Fashion co-star Kangana Ranaut who shared her two cents on the topic.
In her interview, Priyanka had said that she never had pay parity in Bollywood even after doing around 60 films. She added that she was paid about 10 percent of what the male actor would get paid.
Kangana agreed to Priyanka’s statement and claimed that she was the first female actor to fight for equal pay while most of her A-list contemporaries worked for free while also offering other favours. She also claimed that she is the only female actor in the Hindi film industry who gets paid like male actors.

“It’s true women before me simply submitted to these patriarchal norms… I was the first one to fight for pay parity and most disgusting thing that I faced while doing this that my contemporaries offered to work for free on the same roles that I was negotiating for… I can say with confidence most A listers (women) do films for free along with offering other favours because they fear roles will go to the right people… and then shrewdly release articles that they are highest paid ha ha…In the film industry everyone knows that I only get paid like male actors and no one else… and they have no one else to blame atleast now…” Kangana wrote on Instagram.

On the work front, Kangana will next be seen in Emergency. She also has Tejas, Chandramukhi 2 and Manikarnika: The Queen Of Didda.
