Although the honourable Supreme Court has cleared Vipul Shah’s The Kerala Story for screening in every state of the country, a blanket ban on the film remains in West Bengal.
Apparently no exhibitor is willing to screen The Kerala Story in West Bengal.
A prominent exhibitor from Bengal tells us on condition of anonymity, “Until Mamata Didi gives the go-ahead signal, we cannot release the film. Who will protect us from the wrath of her party-men if we open with the film without her consent? Her voice is heard in West Bengal. Let her say it’s okay (to screen The Kerala Story) then we will.”

Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha who is a parliamentarian from Mamata Banerjee’s All India Trinamool Congress says he is not surprised by the Kerala Story boycott. “There were riots in Akola in Maharashtra over the film. This is exactly why she has decided to not allow the film’s release in West Bengal.”
