Alia Bhatt is one of the most formidable actors of this generation. With movies like Highway, Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi under her belt, the National Award winning actor has carved a niche for herself in the industry and is among the few performers, who is going as strong as ever after being married and giving birth to daughter Raha last year. As the diva’s new movie Jigra was announced recently, here are some unknown facts about the 30-year-old….

Starting young
While officially, Alia made her debut with Student of the Year, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawanin 2012, her stint with acting started way back.

She was seen as a young Preity Zinta in the movie Sangharsh, which came out in 1999, when she was just six! The crime thriller co-starred Akshay Kumar, and was produced by her uncle, Mukesh Bhatt.
Cutesy nicknames
Just like all of us, Alia too, has had her share of hilarious nicknames while growing up, one of them being aloo, meaning potato. Not only that, her father Mahesh Bhatt took the moniker a step ahead and tweaked it to call her ‘aloo kalu,’ ‘aloo baalu’ and even ‘batata vada’!

Does not have a complicated process to choosing her scripts
In a recent interview, Alia said that all she wants to do is ‘flavorful’ roles and something that would satisfy her creativity, since her brain abhors monotony. Even though she does not really believe in method acting, she has gone to great lengths to prepare for her roles. For example, for Udta Punjab, she stopped using her phone for a month and for the spy thriller Raazi, she learned Morse code.
Obsessed with organization
Alia has said that she is obsessed with organization and has great ‘organizational skills.’ She also said that if she could go back to college, she could probably do an entire course on organization!

Loves men’s perfume
Alia has often admitted that she finds women perfumes extremely ‘fruity’ and dainty, and hence prefers something stronger. In fact it was her 2 States co-star Arjun Kapoor, who introduced her to some men’s perfumes and from then on, she has been hooked!
