Movies from South film industry have taken the world by storm thanks to films like KGF, Baahubali, Pushpa: The Fire etc. All eyes were set on Prabhas’s Salaar- Part One: Ceasefire which had opened its advance booking in America more than 40 days before its actual release and it had generated more revenue than Jawan but the film got postponed due to post production issues and now all eyes are set on Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo : Bloody Sweet for which he has teamed up with Lokesh Kanagarajafter Master. The film is set to release on 19th October and its advance booking began on 7th September in the United Kingdom and the film has opened with a bang!
For now, the film has opened in 92 locations for 175 shows and has sold over 5500 tickets, taking its total to over 60000 pounds ($76000) in just 12 hours. This number is a record in its own right and numbers for few screens were yet to come in.
The film which stars Thalapathy Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Gautam Vasudev Menon and Anurag Kashyap is carrying a lot of buzz and excitement for multiple reasons. One being, it brings back the pair of Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj after the success of Master.
It is also a part of Lokesh’s Cinematic Universe which will one day bring together projects like Karthi’s Kaithi and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram. Even Vijay and Trisha are coming together after a gap of 17 years. This film also happens to be Sanjay Dutt’s debut Tamil film and his second film after KGF 2 where he plays one of the antagonists. He is supposedly playing Vijay’s father in the film. Anurag Kashyap was the last entrant to the film. He has expressed his desire to work with Lokesh as he gives glorious death to his actors.
The film was officially announced in January 2023 after the lackluster response to Vijay’s last release Beast/Raw. The film was shot for more than a month in Kashmir, followed by Chennai. The film will be releasing in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages.
