It’s been one of the greatest weekends at the box office post the pandemic and the industry is finally breathing a sigh of relief. ‘Gadar 2‘ and ‘OMG 2‘ released on Friday and both the films had a good opening day business. The good part is that none of them really ate each other’s business and there’s a section of the audience which is watching both these movies back-to-back.While ‘Gadar 2’ made a rocking Rs 40 crore on its first day, ‘OMG 2’ did a business of about Rs 10.5 crore.

On Saturday, the business of ‘Gadar 2’ has continued to remain steady as it gathered 41 crore nett as per trade website boxofficeindia.com. With that, the film’s total has come up to around Rs 80 crore within the first two days and the advance bookings of Sunday look equally promising. ‘Gadar 2’ is expected to clock in more than Rs 100 crore for sure over its first weekend. While the 2001 ‘Gadar’ and even the sequel were called ‘propaganda’ movies, that really seems to not make sense as the collections in Muslim dominated centres like like Aligarh and Muzzafarnagar are huge! Having said that, there’s been a slight drop overall in mass centres on Saturday while the multiplexes have seen a jump.
Meanwhile, OMG 2 has seen a good growth of around 50 percent and collected around 13.50 crore nett. This will further make the film’s hold stronger at the box office and the total of two days is now around Rs 22.50 crore nett. Overall, combining the collections of both these movies, it looks like solid weekend of Rs 160-170 crore nett. This is great since both the movies are made on a moderate budget.

The sunday collections should further only give more reasons for the industry to be happy. The good part is, there’s Independence day holiday which will lead to a growth in the business of both these movies.
