Monica Bedi reveals how she lost her role to Mamta Kulkarni in Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Karan Arjun | Hindi Movie News

Monica Bedi recently opened up about losing out on her role in Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan‘s blockbuster film Karan Arjun. She revealed that Rakesh Roshan wanted to cast her in the film but she couldn’t recognise that she rejected a big opportunity which could’ve changed her career.
In her recent interview, Monica recalled the incident and revealed that it all happened when she was at director Shubhash Ghai’s Holi party with my friends.She met Rakesh Roshan there and after a brief conversation, the filmmaker gave her his card and asked her to call him.
Monica wondered why the filmmaker gave her his card. She thought that he is just an actor and didn’t know that he was also a filmmaker. She simply tore the card and dumped it.
A few months later, Monica’s manager asked her, ‘Why didn’t you meet Rakesh Roshan? He was planning to cast you opposite Salman Khan in Karan Arjun.’ And she was like, ‘How would I know?’

The actress said that she was too naive and silly at that time to understand things. She just used to watch films and know the actors and actresses. She wasn’t aware who was the director or the producer of a film.
The role eventually went to Mamta Kulkarni, however, Monica said that she has no regret about missing out on that opportunity adding that ‘You aren’t born smart.’
Monica made her debut with Surakshaa in 1995. She is also known for her participation in Bigg Boss 2 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3. She had also made headlines for her love affair with gangster Abu Salem who has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts and a 1995 murder case.
