Overnight stardom? “Yeah, something like that. After Alaipayuthey, Mani and I did Kannathil Muthamittal and Guru together, each a memorable experience. I am glad I started my movie career with the best.”
Time has just flown by since Madhavan found stardom, or rather, stardom found Madhavan on the then-incipient satellite television. “That seems just like yesterday. I can’t believe I’ve been facing the camera for more than thirty years. I feel I’ve just started. Am I really 53? There is that beginner’s hunger in me. I don’t think I can rest on my laurels. I haven’t achieved enough to do that yet.”
Last year Madhavan stepped into another new phase of his career as a director in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. He has no plans of directing another film. “At least not now. Who knows about the future?”

The future belongs to Madhavan’s son Vedaant who is bringing our country national and international fame as a swimmer.
Says the proud father, “Vedaant is the best blessing God has given me and my wife Sarita. Every day we thank the Lord that he is in our life. The glory he brings to the country means more to me than anything that I’ve done in my own career.”
