‘The Kerala Story’ is enjoying a glorious run at the box office and is making big money with each passing day. The film had a strong third weekend as it raked in Rs 24 crore nett.
Despite bans and controversy, the film has managed to set the cash registers ringing out loud. According to a news portal, ‘The Kerala Story’ has done a total business of Rs 181.50 crore nett at the end of 17 days. Despite the mammoth success, the lifetime business of ‘The Kerala Story’ may not match up to that of ‘The Kashmir Files’.
Directed by Sudipto Sen, ‘The Kerala Story’ is stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. The film narrates the story of four women from Kerala who convert to Islam and join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
The Supreme Court recently stayed West Bengal government’s order banning the screening of ‘The Kerala Story’. Reacting to the same, director Sudipto said, “After Supreme Court’s new order we were so excited. We came to Kolkata with plans to visit the theatres and interact with the audience. However, it seems nothing has changed. ‘The Kerala Story’ is still missing from the halls. We didn’t expect this. I am not a politician. Adah Sharma is also not a politician. So we simply can’t understand why still our film couldn’t find a hall. I am really shocked to see this.”
