In Abhilasha (1968) Khan had the hit Rafi song Wadiyan Mera Daman, and in the blockbuster Ek Phool Do Maali he had the superhit Yeh Parda Hataa Do, a duet with Asha Bhosle. In Intaqam (1970) all the Lata Mangeshkar songs were filmed on Sadhana and Helen. Sanjay Khan had only one Rafi solo. And what a song that was: Jo Unki Tamanna Hai Barbaad Ho Ja…
In 1971 Sanjay sang the glorious Rut Hai Milan Ki to Mumtaz in Mela. Another chartbuster. Perhaps Sanjay Khan’s most well known song is Rafi’s exquisite Maine Poocha Chand Se in Abdullah, the film Khan directed.
And before we forget, Sanjay Khan sang Talat Mehmood’s last film song on screen. The divinely composed Mohabbat Ki Kahaniya Sunane Lagi Hai in Woh Din Yaad Karo (1971). Let the music play on.
