Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, who created a stir by calling ‘The Kashmir Files’ ‘vulgar’ and ‘a propaganda’, has said that he sticks to his comment, but added that the Vivek Agnihotri film is ‘brilliant’.

In his latest statement, Lapid, who headed the jury at the government-organised film festival in Goa, maintained that ‘no one can determine what is propaganda.’ In a statement to India today, he said “On propaganda: no one can determine what is propaganda, I accept this fact, it’s a brilliant movie.”

Going on to defend his comments about the film, he added that it was his “duty” to say what he saw. Although, he did admit that his views were “very subjective.”

He also went on to add that the uproar over his comments was nothing more than ‘cheap manipulation in order to incite people’.

While many other jury members distanced themselves from Lapid’s comments, he revealed that other jury members ‘felt the same way, but didn’t speak openly’.

Meanwhile, director Vivek Agnihotri, on the other hand, opened up about his plans to make a sequel to the film. In a statement to AajTak, he said, “We have many stories, anecdotes, truths from which we could have made 10 films instead of one. But we decided to make only one film. But now, I have decided that I will bring out the whole truth and its title will be The Kashmir Files Unreported.”

He went on to add that he has yet to decide if ‘Unreported’ will be in the form of a web series or a documentary.
