According to the latest reports, director Karan Malhotra, best known for his work on ‘Agneepath’, ‘Brothers’, and Shamshera, has come on board to take over the reins from Rakesh Roshan and helm the fourth instalment of the film. The father-son duo have reportedly picked Karan as the director to take this franchise forward as they believe that he can deliver a ‘world-class product’. While Rakesh has decided the basic plot of this film, he will be working closely with Karan to make the film a visual spectacle.
That’s not all, Hrithik’s ‘Fighter’ director Siddharth Anand has also joined the project as a producer. The film is currently in its scripting stage, but the team is keen to start pre-production, well in time for the movie to go on floors next year.
It was previously reported that Hrithik would only start shooting for ‘Krrish 4’, after wrapping up work on ‘War 2’ with director Ayan Mukerji. The film is expected to go on floors this year.
‘Krrish 4’ comes after Koi… Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013).
Rakesh and Hrithik officially announced their plans for taking the ‘Krrish’ franchise forward in September 2016. At the time, the film was slated for a Christmas 2018 release. When asked about the film’s developments in 2019, Hrithik said in a statement to PTI, “Right after War, I am going to sit with my father, get everyone together and restart work on Krrish 4. We had put it a little on the side because dad was recovering. Now that he is better, we will kick-start it once more.”
On the work front, Hrithik is awaiting the release of his film ‘Fighter’ which will see him starring opposite Deepika Padukone for the first time. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Karan Singh Grover.
