Throwback: When Rakhee Gulzar reminisced about working with Amitabh Bachchan in Ek Rishta: The Bond Of Love | Hindi Movie News

Celebrating the completion of 22 years of the film ‘Ek Rishta: The Bond Of Love’, the enigmatic Raakhee Gulzar reflects on her unique bond with Amitabh Bachchan. However, she expresses her regret about not being in touch with the film industry anymore.
Inquiring about her co-star Amitabh Bachchan she asks, “How is Amitabh?” Rakhee fondly recalls their shared journey, stating, “We started our careers at the same time. Sunil Dutt’s saab’s Reshma Aur Shera was, I think, his fifth or sixth film. I had also done some films before. Still Amit and I were the newcomers on location. We were both in awe of Waheedaji who played my sister-in-law. Amit was goonga in the film but a livewire on location. The two of us would play pranks on everyone. It was an intense film. But shooting it was fun.”
Raakhee Gulzar then takes a trip down memory lane and shares her long association with Amitabh Bachchan. She says, “We did our last film together, Suneel Darshan’s Ek Rishta: The Bond Of Love in 2001. We had a lot of fun doing the film. We were meeting after a long time. The last films prior to Ek Rishta that we did together were Ramesh Sippy’s Shakti and Hrishida (Mukherjee)’s Bemisal in 1982. In Shakti I played Amit’s mother and in Bemisal we were not exactly a pair. He played my confidante. Almost twenty years later I agreed to play his wife in Ek Rishta. Akshay and Juhi Chawla were our children. We felt like an actual family while doing the film. Later I did another film with Suneel Darshan, Talaash where again Akshay played my son. In fact, Akshay started his career in Saugandh where I played his mother.”
