KL Rahul has announced that he will undergo surgery on his right thigh and thereby confirmed that he is not taking part in the on-going IPL and is ruled out of the all-important World Test Championship final as well. This is a big blow to the Indian squad who we believe had seen him at the important position of No 5 or 6 in the WTC final at Oval in England. No doubt it is a blow to his IPL Lucknow Super Giants team as well. THE WTC final is against the mighty Aussies and Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins are going to go all out, not to forget the wily Nathan Lyon.

This afternoon, we had the opportunity to strike a conversation with Suniel Shetty in the press conference at a Mumbai 5-star wherein he was endorsing an app as a brand ambassador.
When asked about his son-in-law KL Rahul’s injury and the possible impact that his absence can have to LSG and India XI, Suniel said, “Rahul is undergoing a surgery tomorrow. We need your good wishes for that.”

Added Suniel, “The Indian team has a marvellous bunch of cricketers. They have good bench strength. I think it’s an opportunity for some other player to get to the WTC final and shine. No player is bigger than the game.”

As for KL’s comments, he had earlier tweeted, “After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it’s been concluded that I’ll be undergoing a surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call to make, but I know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery.
As the team captain, it pains me deeply not to be able to be there during this crucial period. But, I’m confident that the boys will rise to the occasion and give their best performance as always. I’ll be cheering for them from the sidelines with all of you, watching every game. @lucknowsupergiants.

Absolutely gutted that I won’t be at the Oval next month with Team India. I’ll do everything I can to get back in blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority. @indiancricketteam”
