Fashion’s biggest night brought some of the biggest stars in the film and music industries under one roof at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s theme for the Met Gala revolved around late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld and saw some celebrities opt for elegant looks while others rocked some rather risque and bold ensembles.
The three hour red carpet event saw Rihanna shut down the show down encased in white camellias on a jacket with a long train gown. Janelle Monáe dropped a bulky coat to reveal a see-through cage and Jeremy Pope walked in a 32-foot cape emblazoned with the visage of Karl Lagerfeld. Dua Lipa walked in a white Chanel ballgown from the fashion house’s archive, while Alia Bhatt made her debut in a ball-gown embroudered in 100,000 pearls.
After a fun night of fashion, celebities hit up some of the biggest Met Gala after parties. While the ladies ditched their dramatic gowns for some sexy and chic mini dresses, the boys traded in their suits for some funky jakets as they turned the streets of New York into their runway.
While some stars flocked to the main after party, hosted by Chanel at Sartiano’s at The Mercer Hotel in Soho, others headed to parties hosted around town.
