After wrapping his ambitious film ‘Jawan’ with Shah Rukh Khan, director Atlee is planning to start work on ‘Theri’. The filmmaker has roped in Varun Dhawan for the lead role and is on the lookout for the leading lady.
Buzz is that Atlee had approached Janhvi Kapoor to essay the lead opposite Varun in this film. However, according to a news portal, Janhvi has turned down the opportunity due to date issues. A source had confirmed to ETimes that Janhvi has been approached for the project, but looks like things did not go as planned. This project will be produced by Murad Khetani and Atlee.
Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee’s much awaited film ‘Jawan’ was scheduled for release in June, but they recently announced that the project has been delayed. SRK had confirmed in a social media post that ‘Jawan’ will release on September 7, 2023. When asked about the reason for delay, Shah Rukh Khan had replied to a Twitter user, “Takes time and patience to make something worthy for audiences.” ‘Jawan’ features Nayanthara as the leading lady while Vijay Sethupathi plays the villain in this entertainer. Last month, ETimes has exclusively unveiled pictures of Deepika Padukone shooting for a special song in ‘Jawan’, alongside SRK. The duo shot for a fun dance sequence, sporting red blazers and scarfs.
