It’s time to bid farewell to the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, but going by the box office numbers, the superheroes didn’t get as big a sendoff.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, the third part of the hit James Gunn directorial, hit threats on Friday. Considering that the film completes the action trilogy, it did decent business on day one at the Indian box office.
According to reports on boxofficeindia.com, the film earned an estimated Rs 6.75 crore nett on its first day. Thanks to the Marvel brand, the film earned well in its advance bookings but saw lower collections at the ticket windows.
It must be noted that the Guardians aren’t quite the fan-favourites in India as compared to other films like the ‘Avengers’ and ‘Spider-Man’ franchises. The last GOTG film collected under Rs 20 crore nett when it was released back in 2017.
Despite the average opening, the film managed to record the eighth-highest opening day collection for a Hollywood release in India post the pandemic. ‘Avatar – The Way Of Water’ tops the list with a collection of Rs 39.87 crore, followed by ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘ earning Rs 32.67 crore, ‘Doctor Strange: In Multiverse Of Madness’ collecting Rs 28.74 crore, ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ earning Rs 18.48 crore and ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘ rounding up the 5th spot with a collection of Rs 11.93 crore.
‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, ‘Jurrasic World: Dominion’ ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3‘, ‘Black Adam‘ and ‘Godzilla Vs Kong‘ fiill up the top 10 spots.
