Fast X‘, the tenth instalment of the billion-dollar ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, recorded a good weekend at the Indian box office.
The multi-starrer led by Vin Diesel scored had a good run at the box office on its first weekend. The film zoomed past the Rs 61 crore mark, making it the best-performing Hollywood release this year. Not just that, the film performed better than most Hindi films that released over the past months.
The film which had an early start at the box office on Thursday, earned Rs 12.50 crore on Day 1 and saw good growth in numbers over the weekend, states a report on boxofficeindia.com. It earned Rs 13.75 crore on Friday and saw a big jump on Saturday with a collection of Rs 17 crore. It ended on a high with a collection of Rs 17.75 crore, thus taking its overall total on Sunday to an estimated Rs 61 crore.

At the international box office, the film minted $67.5 million in ticket sales from 4,046 North American theatres. While the numbers couldn’t surpass the ‘Furious 7’ collections of $142.2 million, in India, the numbers were the best ever for the franchise beating the collections of the 2015 release.
According to the report, the film will see a big drop in collections on Monday as the high ticket rates come down.

Directed by Louis Leterrier (who took over from Justin Lin during production), ‘Fast X’ brings back the familiar crew including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jordana Brewster and adds several newcomers, like Brie Larson, Rita Moreno and a villain played by Jason Momoa. The ever-expanding cast also includes Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren.

Reports say the movie cost $340 million to produce, made an impressive $319 million global debut — the third biggest of the franchise.
