Kunal Kemmu had charmed the audience as a child artist in numerous hits like ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’, ‘Raja Hindustani’ and ‘Zakhm’. However, he marked his debut as a lead actor in 2005 with ‘Kalyug’.
His suave looks and charming onscreen personality in ‘Kalyug’ was a huge hit with the audience. In a recent interview, Kunal Kemmu shared an interesting detail about the film’s title. Speaking on Cyrus Broacha’s podcast, Kunal revealed, “Kalyug wasn’t written for me, because they were figuring out what film I should do. Kalyug was called Blue Film at that time, and it was for Bhatt saab’s son… The thing is, when Bhatt saab told me about the film, he didn’t tell me the title. He narrated the story to me, and I said, ‘It’s brilliant, I want to do it’. Still no title. And I’ve been signed on, and they said they want to do a photoshoot. And there I hear them discuss it: ‘Toh yeh Blue Film neeche likhna hai?‘”
Kunal went on to recalls how difficult it was to break the news to his family, since the film’s title was ‘Blue Film’. Eventually in an awkward conversation, Kunal revealed the title to his parents. However, the film’s name was later altered as the makers were facing restrictions to promote a movie titled ‘Blue Film’ on TV. Directed by Mohit Suri, ‘Kalyug’ also starred Emraan Hashmi, Ashutosh Rana, Smilie Suri and Amrita Singh in pivotal roles.
