For his next too, Akshay has stepped into the shoes of former additional chief mining engineer, the late Jaswant Singh Gill. Jaswant Gill is known to have pulled one of the biggest rescue operations in Indian history by saving the lives of 65 workers trapped in a flooded coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal, in 1989. Last year, Akshay’s look for the same went viral on social media and it was being speculated that the movie is called Capsule Gill.
However, according to a leading website source, the movie will now be titled The Great Indian Rescue. According to the source, the makers felt that this particular name does more justice to the plot of the movie and even sounds more powerful.
The movie is set to hit theatres sometime this year and co-stars Parineeti Chopra. It is being helmed by Tinu Suresh Desai. This apart, Akshay also has Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, alongside Tiger Shroff in his kitty.
