As per a news portal, Hirani has been planning to make the biopic since 2019. It was reportedly one of the scripts that the filmmaker had offered to SRK. Among the two, the Pathaan star chose Dunki and the said biopic was apparently put on hold.
The report further states that after the release of Dunki, Hirani will be reviving the biopic and he has also reportedly asked his team of writers to finish the script by the end of this year. The filmmaker is apparently very passionate about making the Lala Amarnath biopic.
“Lala Amarnath’s biopic is not a typical sports biopic. Hirani will tell his story in his usual entertaining way, beautifully highlighting Lala’s career, his spasmodic brilliance, and his enduring influence on Indian cricket. An A-list young star is expected to star in this film. However, the director will finalize someone only after he is done with Dunki’s shooting,” a source was quoted as saying by the portal.
For the uninititated, director Kabir Khan’s 83 starring Ranveer Singh as cricket legend Kapil Dev had explored the character of Lala Amarnath in a few scenes. Mohinder Amarnath, who was the Vice-Captain of the World Cup-winning team in 1983, had played the role of his own father in the film.
