According to the reports, Javed was suffering from breathing ailment and was bedridden for the past one year. He was undergoing treatment at Surya Nursing Home in suburban Mumbai.
Apart from Lagaan, the late actor has worked with Aamir in the cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna. He is best known for playing the barber Karim in the late 1980s TV show Nukkad. In Lagaan, he played the role of Ram Singh, the Indian who works with British and helps Elizabeth in translating local language.
Many Bollywood celebrities including Shabana Azmi, Suniel Shetty among others also paid their heartfelt condolences on social media platforms. He was 74.
