Vivek Agnihotri is an avid social media user and he actively uses Twitter to voice his thoughts. Recently, the filmmaker reacted to Anurag Kashyap’s comment about ‘mob is out of control now’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently advised BJP party workers to avoid making unnecessary comments on films, actors and filmmakers. Reacting to it, Anurag Kashyap had stated, “If he had said this four years ago, it would have made a difference. Now, I don’t think it’ll make a difference. It was about controlling their own people. Things have gone out of hand now. I don’t think anybody will listen to anyone. When you stay silent, you empower prejudice and you empower hatred. It has now got so much empowered that it is a power in itself. The mob is out of control now.” Reacting to Anurag’s statement, Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, “Audience is ‘mob’ now? Wow! Wow! Wow!”

PM Modi’s comment had come amid the protests that Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathaan’ has been facing. BJP leaders like Ram Kadam and Narottam Mishra had criticized Deepika Padukone’s saffron costumes in the film. Mishra, who is also the spokesperson of the Madhya Pradesh government, told reporters, “Nobody was named, but his (PM Modi’s) every word, sentence is important for us and that is why all the workers have drawn inspiration from there. Our conduct and behaviour are always filled with his guidance and energy and will continue to be in future.”
