Shirley Setia, who is slowly but steadily making her mark in Bollywood, recently revealed that she was discouraged from learning music by her family who saw it just as a hobby and not as a profession.

In an interview with a news portal, Shirley called herself a singer by chance. The actress also revealed that her first career choice was actually doing something in the marketing field. That was also something that her parents also wanted her to focus on.

Shirley recalled posting her singing videos on YouTube and receiving positive reviews from the viewers. The actress then took music a little more seriously and devoted time to learning music by herself. However, it was not an easy road because her family wanted her to take music only as a hobby and not as a profession, Shirley told News18.

Shirley added that despite how her family reacted initially, today they are her biggest cheerleaders. According to her, now that they have seen how much it means to her, they are extremely supportive. She also revealed that her family has cut out articles about her and her mom keeps it on a shelf.

On the work front, Shirley was last seen in ‘Nikamma’ co-starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty.
