RRR, Naatu Naatu, Jr NTR and Ram Charan eyes Academy Award glory

In a few moments from now, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences will reveal the list of nominees in the running for the top prize. While there are several Indian films are among the 300-odd films in the running to secure Oscar nods, four Indian films are a part of the shortlists that were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 10 categories in December 2022. These films include ‘RRR’ for Best Song, ‘Chhello Show’ aka ‘The Last Film Show’ for Best Foreign Film, ‘All That Breathes’ for Best Documentary Feature Film and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ for Best Documentary Short Film. SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ is tipped to be the first Indian film to secure a nomination at the Oscars. Should the predictions come true, then it will be only the second Non-English film after ‘Parasite’ to secure a nod in the Best Picture category. Films like ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Kantara’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and several others are eyeing a nod tonight when the official list is announced at 7.00 pm IST by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.
