Reena Roy wants to make a comeback to films and she’s excited about working on OTT projects. Such is her enthusiasm that she doesn’t want to limit herself to a particular kind of role or genre or even language. She just wants to dive into the world of movies again, head on. Speaking exclusively to ETimes, Reena said, “This new year I have decided that I will be working in OTT. I am getting offers. I would like to work in regional films too from Punjabi to Tamil, Telugu, I want to work on everything.”

We asked her if she deliberately took time to warm up to the OTT offers and Reena replied instantly, “I had the responsibility of my daughter. Her education is complete now. Being a single mother, you have to take care of your daughter first. It’s a full-time job. My daughter wants to do a business management course. It’s up to her what she wants to pursue.” She makes it clear that her daughter Sanam will choose if she wants to make a career in films or in another field.

Reena Roy had made her debut at the age of 15 working on Zaroorat (1972). While she couldn’t find the time to pursue a formal education, she wanted hee daughter to have a different approach. Looking back she said, “I started working very early in my life. Sometimes, I’d study sometimes I’d work. I wanted to make sure that my daughter gets an education.”

Going forward, Reena wants to take up challenging roles with stories that can impress. She said, “I want to do something along the lines of Baghban and Mother India. These days, I watch more South films that are dubbed in Hindi. Their action and dance are unbelievable. I enjoy those films.”

Reena is no stranger to cinema from the South. She said, “I have worked a lot down South in the past. They were very punctual, particular and very dedicated. When I used to work in the South with LV Prasad and all, if the director’s car was moving ahead of us, then we couldn’t overtake his car.”
