Priyanka Chopra on Tuesday, joined ‘RRR‘ director SS Rajamouli and Golden Globe-winning music composer MM Keeravaani for a screening of the film.
The actress joined the team that has been out and about Los Angeles, promoting their film among Oscar voters, with the hope of scoring a nomination at the 95th Academy Awards. Sharing photos with the director, PeeCee took to her handle to say, “Least I can do to contribute to this incredible Indian film’s journey. Good luck and congratulations @RRRMovie, @ssrajamouli garu, @mmkeeravaani garu, @AlwaysRamCharan, @tarak9999, @aliaa08, @ajaydevgn, Prem Rakshith, Kaala Bhairava, Chandrabose, @Rahulsipligunj #RRRMovie.”

Voting to secure nominations at the Oscars ended at 5 p.m. on January 17, 2023. The complete list of Academy Award Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
The Telugu film ‘RRR’ is in the running for Best Original Song. The film hopes to secure nominations in the Best Picture, Best Director and even Best Actor and Supporting Actor categories.

The film’s hit song ‘Naatu Naatu’ is tipped to take home the trophy for Best Original Song after it won the Golden Globe Award and Critics Choice Award.

Priyanka cheered for the film after its big win in a post that read, “Congratulations team RRR first ever Asian film to win a @goldenglobes for a song! Amazing win for Indian cinema!”

‘Naatu Naatu’ a dance number featuring stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan will be pitted against Taylor Swift’s ‘Carolina’ from Where the Crawdads Sing, ‘Ciao Papa’ from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Lady Gaga’s ‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick, and ‘Lift Me U’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, performed by Rihanna. Naatu Naatu was shot in Ukraine over a period of 20 days. It took 43 retakes before the final cut of the song was approved.

The song is composed by music director MM Keeravaani, and sung by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, with lyrics by Chandrabose.

Priyanka was previously spotted lending her support to the Gujarati film ‘Last Film Show’ that is India’s official entry for the 2023 Oscars. The film has been shortlisted by the Academy for the Best International Feature Film award at the 95th Academy Awards.

The screening event was attended by the film’s lead star Bhavin Rabari, director Pan Nalin, producer Dheer Momaya and a host of Academy members. Priyanka, shared a few pictures from the screening and wrote, “The least I can do is support the industry that taught me all I know about my job. So proud of the amazing movies that come out of Indian cinema. ‘Chhello Show’ being one of the special ones. Good luck team! Go get ’em.”

According to the Academy’s official website, ‘Last Film Show’ will compete with 14 films, including ‘Argentina, 1985’ (Argentina), ‘Decision to Leave’ (South Korea), ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ (Germany), and ‘Close’ (Belgium).

Only three Indian films in Oscar history have found mention in the top five of the international film (formerly called foreign language) category, namely ‘Lagaan’ (2001), ‘Salaam Bombay!’ (1988), and ‘Mother India’ (1957).

The 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12 in Los Angeles.
