Recently we have seen several film stalwarts passing away one after the other such as Krishna, Krishnam Raju, Kaikala Sathyanarayana and Chalapathi Rao. Now, there is yet another tragedy in the southern film industry. Popular Tamil-Telugu story writer Shri. Balamurugan, who wrote several films in Tamil film Industry besides writing a few Telugu movies passed away today. He was 86 years old and was unwell.
His son, Telugu-Tamil film writer Bhupathi Raja has revealed the news to the media that the writer passed away at 8:45 this morning, and was suffering from age-related ailments for past few years.

In Telugu, Balamurugan has given the stories to many super hit movies like ‘Dharmadatha’, ‘Alumagalu’, ‘Soggadu’, ‘Savaasagallu’ and ‘Jeevana Tarangalu’. He also contributed the story to Geetha Arts’ first film ‘Bantrotu Bharya’. There is no need to say that the ‘Soggadu’ movie starring Shobhan Babu had become a huge blockbuster in Tollywood and carries a cult status even today.
Balamurugan, who was once a star writer in the south has written stories for several star Tamil actors too. He gave stories to Sivaji Ganesan for about 30 to 40 of his films. After learning that Balamurugan has passed away, Tamil and Telugu film celebrities started mourning his death…!
