
He is survived by his wife Sarita and daughter Sara. Chouhan actively participated for the rights of the writing fraternity as well. Of the many accolades in his career Chouhan won a Filmfare Award for Best Story for his subliminal film I Am Kalam (2011). Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara and Dhoop are also some of Chouhan’s noteworthy films.
According to online reports Chouhan was born and brought up Bhopal. His father worked for the Indian Railways, while his mother was a school teacher. Sanjay Chauhan started his career as a journalist in Delhi and then he moved to Mumbai after he wrote the crime-based TV series, Bhanwar for Sony television in 1990s. One of Chouhan’s notable contributions was also the dialogue for Sudhir Mishra’s celebrated 2003 movie Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.
The funeral will be held today at 12.30 pm at Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai.
