Amitabh Bachchan‘s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda has been making headlines with her podcast ‘What The Hell Navya?’ where she has talked about several issues that women face in the society. It also featured her mother Shweta Bachchan Nanda and her grandmother Jaya Bachchan. She recently talked about the opportunities she was given because of her privilege and also spoke about how her lack of experience can’t stop her from raising her voice for her beliefs.
When Navya was asked about her views on being told that she is too young and inexperienced to be the change, she said, “I’ve certainly faced it. I feel like a lack of experience cannot be a reason why you don’t step up and raise your voice against something. I feel like I don’t want to wait till I’m 70 and have 70 years of experience to change the world or do something that will change the world.”

She continued, “I feel like 80 per cent of this country is youth and are between the ages of 18 and 35. I can’t wait for 30 years to say, ‘Ok I have 30 years of experience and now I am going to do something. If 80 per cent of this country is youth, then why are we not on those tables? Why are we not having those conversations? Why are we not taking about what we want as young people, as young creators, as young entrepreneurs, as young women?”

“We should be creating those policies because that’s when this future is going to be built. And if we don’t build it, who’s going to build it for us? 30 years from now when I have a daughter, I want her to grow up in a world where she does feel equal. And I think that that’s exactly what I say to people who say, ‘You’re 25 and you don’t have experience.’ Yes, I don’t have experience, but I will learn that on the way. But if today, I don’t use this opportunity to speak up, then I’m not just doing a disservice to myself, but I’m doing a disservice to the future generations that are going to come and say, ‘Why did you not say something? Because of a lack of experience?'”

Navya’s hard-hitting statements made her mother Shweta very proud. She went on to post several heart-filled emojis and wrote, “Wow Navya. Love what you said. Keep at it.” She also reshared the video on her Instagram stories and wrote, “You’re never too young to make a difference.”
