SS Rajamouli was beaming with pride as ‘Naatu Naatu’ was announced the winner in the Best Song category at the Golden Globe Awards 2023. Actors Junior NTR and Ram Charan cheered the loudest as the song’s music director MM Keeravaani went up on stage to receive the trophy. India has brought home a huge honour with this win, but why ‘Naatu Naatu’? According to the rules of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, any movie which has released in theatres or on digital platforms 7-days before the midnight of the December 31 of the qualifying year is eligible to be submitted for the Golden Globe Awards.
Furthermore, for a song to qualify, words and music, both must be original and written specifically for the movie that is being submitted. If this criteria is met, then the song qualifies for nominations for the Golden Globe Awards.

SS Rajamouli helmed ‘RRR’ earned a nomination in the Best Picture – Non-English Language and Best Song – Motion Picture categories and it went on to bag the Best Song award at the Golden Globe Awards 2023.
