Lauding the team for its historic win, musician AR Rahman had tweeted, “Incredible ..Paradigm shift. Congrats Keeravani Garu 💜from all Indians and your fans! Congrats @ssrajamouli Garu and the whole RRR team!” While receiving the award, the song’s music director MM Keeravaani stated, “Thank you very much HFPA for this prestigious award. I am very much overwhelmed with this great moment. I am very happy to share this excitement with my wife. There has been an age old practice to say that this award actually belongs to someone else. I was planning not to say those words when I get an award like this. But, I am sorry to say that I am going to repeat the tradition because I mean my words. This award belongs to, in order of priority, my brother and director of the movie SS Rajamouli. I thank him for his vision, trust in my work and his constant support. I also want to thank NTR Junior and Ram Charan who danced with great stamina.” ‘RRR’ had also bagged a nomination in the Best Picture – Non-English Language category, but lost out on the same to ‘Argentina, 1985’.
Speaking about a possible sequel to ‘RRR’, director Rajamouli had told Variety on the red carpet, “A few weeks back when I was discussing with my father and cousin, who are my story team, a fantastic idea came up and we started writing. But, you know, until the script is done, we can’t take it forward, but we are in the process of doing that.”
